There are 2 homesteads on the farm, one being the guest house. The main branch of farming activities is Merino sheep. We also have Angus cattle, horses, about 40 ha lusern and we produce vegetable seed and honey. During the 18 00s, before motor cars were invented, horses were bred here for transport and agricultural use in the Cape region. Back then there were no fences on the farms and shepherds looked after the sheep. To protect the wheat fields approximately 10 km of stone walls were built which can still be seen today. We offer you approximately 30 km hiking trails which you can also drive with a 2x4 vehicle or mountain bikes. We also have 4x4 trails. On our farm you can see springbuck, fallow deer, grey rheebuck, duiker and a great variety of birds. Activities on the farm are roughly as follows: March - April: Merino ewes lamb. June - August: The Roggeveld is very cold with heavy frost and occasional snowfalls and sheep is moved to another farm. September - October: It is shearing time - the busiest time of the year. If it rained enough during the winter there is now an amazing show of wildflowers. November: Lusern is harvested. December - January: Vegetable seed is harvested. We have a small shooting range where you can test your fire arms (at own risk). There are poplar and bluegum tree groves where you can go for a walk or a picnic. There is also a giant pear tree - (trunk circumference 5,8m). On the farm is a family cemetery and elsewhere on the farm a grave that dates back to 1706. Places to visit: Laingsburg Flood Museum approximately 60 km. Sutherland and SALT approximately 80 km. Matjiesfontein (the biggest museum in private hands in SA) 39 km.
